Niki Terpstra general takes the Eneco Tour 2016
The penultimate race of the UCI World Tour calendar 2016 was the Eneco Tour, race was the Dutch Niki Terpstra. It is the second victory of a cyclist from the Netherlands in the history of this race and third victory this year for Etixx team cyclist – Quick Step, which last met May 34.
Terpstra was not done with the lead until the last day a stage race that was very competitive. The first leader was the Dutch Dylan Groenewegen, winner of the first stage, giving the lead on the next day to Rohan Dennis, who won the individual time trial and was important participant in the victory of BMC in the team time trial.
In between, the protagonist was Peter Sagan. The Slovakian was adding two stage wins and even managed to wear the leader’s jersey for a day, adding points that have allowed her to pull himself up to the number one ranking UCI World Tour. In addition, the Tinkoff rider was postulated as the favorite for the final victory ahead of the final day, but things did not go as he expected.
In this last stage Sagan touched him fight all and only against Terpstra, Boasson Hagen and Naesen and Jungels, it would make a great job for his teammate. While the stage Boasson Hagen took her with a large display in the last two kilometers, Terpstra ensured victory in the overall standings, with Naesen second and third Sagan.
