Tanel Kangert closes the cycling season winning the Abu Dhabi 2016 Tour
The 2016 cycling season has ended far from their usual environment in Abu Dhabi. In this emirate has raced the Tour of Abu Dhabi, which opened career in 2015 with the final victory of the Colombian Esteban Chaves and in this year 2016, in its second edition, has won the Estonian Tanel Kangert.
Kangert is a cyclist of 29 years running since 2011 in the team Astana and has stood up then as a good domestique for their heads of rows, Vincenzo Nibali and Fabio Aru. In this year 2016, after nearly four years in which their only wins had been in the Estonian national championships, closes the season with victory in the Abu Dhabi Tour, to add to the two stage victories he achieved in the Giro del Trentino.
Kangert took the lead of the race, and ultimately with the final overall victory, winning the third stage, the only one of the four mountain stages scheduled to end difficulties in the Jebel Hafeet mountain. The Astana won the stage with a 17-second lead over the Irish Nicolas Roche, more than enough considering that the stage that lay ahead passed entirely on the Yas Marina circuit where the Grand Prix of Formula 1 are held.
: There the other star of the race beat Mark Cavendish. British sprinter closes the season with two wins in the bag to make a total of nine in the year. The first was in the second round, where he also snatched the lead from Giacomo Nizzolo (winner of the first stage) and the second in the last stage, in the circuit of Abu Dhabi.
